North East Tasmania

The North East of Tasmania is a diverse region with the terrain ranging from mountains to beaches, forests and farmland.

It’s also a notable wine producing area known for high quality, cool climate wines.

Launceston is Tasmania’s second largest city and the rest of the population is widely scattered throughout the region.  Of the 155 towns in Tasmania, almost a third of them are in the North East region.

There are plenty of options for day rides and loops on interesting roads which are perfect for motorcycle touring.

The Tasman Highway from Launceston to the coastal holiday town of St. Helens is about 160 km and enjoys some of the most “corner rich” roads in the state.

With so many places to see and things to do, the North East region is definitely worth exploring.
