Eastern Tasmania
The Eastern Region of Tasmania covers famous national parks, pristine, white sand beaches and the drier, broad-acre farming areas of the midlands.
The east coast is a popular get-away destination for Tassie locals, with many holiday homes in St.Helens, Bicheno, Coles Bay and Swansea.
Mild weather, beautiful landscapes and local produce are prime attractions with award winning wineries and locally owned oyster farms all along the coast.
The highway hugs the coast for much of the way with spectacular scenery threatening to distract you from the free-flowing corners.
For history buffs, the midlands towns of Campbell Town, Ross and Oatlands have many surviving sandstone homes, bridges and other structures, built by convicts.
The Midlands Highway is the fastest route between Launceston and Hobart, while the coastal road is a longer trip, often close to the sea, and passing through a number of small towns.
The Eastern Region is a favourite with locals and it might become your favourite too.
